Introduction of Lake Purrumbete

Lake Purrumbete is a volcanic lake on the eastern outskirts of Camperdown, a small inland town in the southern state of Victoria. It covers an area of about 552 hectares and is about 185 kilometers by car from Melbourne, the capital of Victoria.

From Camperdown follow A1 (Princes Hwy) about 10 kilometers east to Lake Purrumbete, a volcanic lake that was formed by a volcanic eruption about 20,000 years ago, with an average depth of 45 meters and the deepest depth of about 60 meters, for most of the time. The water of the lake here is as clear as crystal.

Rich in wildlife in the vicinity of Lake Purrumbete, where various waterbirds live, especially famous for their fishing resorts, the vast trout and monarch salmon are bred here in a good water environment, attracting fishing enthusiasts.

Lake Purrumbete RV Park (Lake Purrumbete Caravan Park), located on the south shore of the lake, offers accommodations; near RV Park, there is a coffee shop, (Lake Edge Cafe), where you can enjoy the lake's light while enjoying delicious refreshments.
