Melbourne

Introduction of Melbourne

Melbourne is the capital city of victoria on the picturesque yala river (Yarra River). it is the capital of victoria and one of australia's most artistic, stylish and elegant tourist destinations. Melbourne urban environment is very elegant, has won the Common Habitat Award, and for many years by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme as "the world's most livable city ".

Melbourne aborigines lived there 40,000 years ago, and after the arrival of the European colonists, the city was officially established in 1835, when it was called "Bearbrass", renamed Melbourne, in 1837 in memory of William Lamb (William Lamb), the second generation of British Prime Minister, with a population of 10,000 in 1840. The earliest aborigines of Melbourne lived on the banks of the present Yala River and on the island of Philip (Phillip Island).

From a stylish rooftop cocktail bar with a bird's-eye view of the city to a hidden roadway full of elegant cafes and creative street art, Melbourne is full of diverse urban features, historic buildings and lush urban gardens. More than 180 alleys and small streets, hidden behind well-planned urban roads, form an intricate network filled with novel clothing boutiques, art galleries, small cafes, private bars and restaurants. Whether you take a tram to the tree-lined St. Coda Avenue (St Kilda Boulevard), shop wildly at the trendy Church Street (Chapel Street), or go to Chinatown (Chinatown) at midnight to taste the dumpling feast, everything Melbourne has its own characteristics and is a perfect place to explore freely.

(Melbourne Cup Carnival).

Melbourne is also the nation's cultural, commercial, educational, entertainment, sports and tourism center, leading Australia in fashion, art, music, television production, film and dance, and even the global scope of the field has a certain influence. Melbourne is also the center of Australia's multi-ethnic culture, with a large number of immigrants.

Melbourne Public Transport Options

In Australia, public transport is used quite frequently, and Melbourne is no exception. The city centre of Melbourne offers free tram services, but if you want to take public transport outside the free tram area, you need to buy a myki card, which can be purchased at myki marked retail stores, tourist centres and train stations.

myki card needs to be charged a certain amount to cover the cost, can be recharged at convenience stores and train stations. During the ride, please swipe your card on the card reader when you get on the bus and be sure to swipe your card before leave..

Free Tramway Area

Please make good use of the free tram area (free zone) within the city area, if your itinerary is within the free tram area, you do not need to brush myki card when getting on and off.

Melbourne Free Tram (Free Tram Melbourne: 35-City Circle) runs the Ring Line every 12 minutes and is a great place to visit Melbourne. The entire drive takes about 48 minutes, providing a history commentary along the way, which is worth your ears pricking. This route supports up-and-down access to other buses and train routes through a wide range of important attractions including Flinders Street Station (Flinders Street Railway Station), Federal Square (Federation Square), Queen Victoria Market (Queen Victoria Market), Coastal Harbour (Harbour Esplanade), etc.

Suburban tram

Melbourne also offers tram lines running through the suburbs, which are very convenient. A tram route is divided into two districts, and the myki card fee depends on the area you pass by tram. Most trams operate only in Area 1; but sometimes the routes of the two districts overlap and you need to plan your itinerary ahead of time. for more information about the tram network, visit the victoria public transport documents (Public Transport Victoria) website.

train

It runs from morning to night and is a great choice to visit the city's attractions and surrounding suburbs. The main stations in the city include central Station (Central Station), Flinders Street Station (Flinders Street Railway Station) and Southern Cross train Station (Southern Cross Station).

to regional attractions such as jilang (Geelong), bararet (Ballarat), bengo (Bendigo), you can use myki card on all train routes in V/Line intercity.

Bicycle

If you're more adventurous, experience the shared bike service in Melbourne. And the driveways along the Yala River (Yarra River) are excellent cycling routes.

Roundtrip Airport

To and from Melbourne Airport, choose public transportation, taxi or carpool service. A 24-hour (SkyBus) express line is convenient and the bus stops at terminals 1,3 and 4. Airport buses also operate routes to and from Avalon Airport (Avalon Airport). Both airport bus routes call the city's Southern Cross train Station. please note that airport buses do not support brushing myki cards, but need to buy tickets online or at the airport.

You can also take a taxi and carpool after arrival, which takes about 25 to 30 minutes from the airport to the city center (50 minutes from Avalon Airport). Taxi stops can be found in front of all terminals.
