Introduction of Great Ocean Road

Great Ocean Road is located on a highway off the southern coast of Victoria, west of Melbourne, winding nearly 250km from Tolcan (Torquay) to (Warrnambool) Fu, Vanampur, an iconic route winding through scenic pristine beaches, picturesque towns, magnificent range and rainforests. The West Plain of western Melbourne, originally a volcanic area, is now a vast wasteland in Great Ocean Road, leaving only a few eye-catching volcanic cones, lakes formed by magma blocking the waterway, and Huakou Lake, scattered all over the plain. The eastern part of Great Ocean Road winds its way to Otvelrange (Otway Range). The southwest wind blowing from (Southern Ocean) in the Nanyang, with rich moisture, blocked by Otavi range, dropped the terrain rain and formed a rather wet and cool climate, which gave birth to dense and towering forests and good fields cultivated by farmers.

If you start from Melbourne, it will take about four hours to get to the finish line along the coastline; if you take the inland highway, you can save more than an hour, but you will miss a lot of scenery that can only be seen on the coastline. From Melbourne to Allen Ford (Allansford), there are many big cities and towns, including: Gillang (Geelong), Tolcan (Torquay), Angie (Anglesea), Ron (Lorne), Apollo Bay (Apollo Bay) and Campbell Port (Port Campbell) and so on.

Tips:

Suitable time for self-driving: October-May of the following year. The weather is very important. To check the weather forecast, self-driving is the most beautiful when the blue sky is white clouds and the sea. In October, the golden peak in Australia is spring, coastal self-driving wind can bring emergency clothes, morning and evening temperature difference is best with a cotton coat to protect against the cold.

Transportation:

From the Southern Cross train Station in Melbourne, (Southern Cross Station) can take the V/Line long distance train to Gilang (Geelong), and then transfer to Apollo Bay (Apollo Bay).

If you want to drive yourself (which is also the way most tourists choose), the classic Great Ocean Road route organized by http://australia51.com) is:

  • Short line (1 / 3 days): Melbourne leaves through the Gilang (Geelong), Tolcan (Torquay), Angie (Anglesea), Ron (Lorne), Apollo Bay (Apollo Bay), Campbell (Port Campbell), which ends with the 12th disciple (Twelve Apostles), Rockad Canyon (Loch Ard Gorge) and the London Arch (London Bridge), can return from the same road, or return inland through the small town of Corak (Colac). The whole process is about 550 kilometers, passing by every small town can stay, remember to book in advance, according to their own time reasonable arrangement of daily foothold;
  • Medium-long line(45 days):if there is plenty of time, you can still face west along Great Ocean Road after Campbell Port and London Arch Bridge, and then return to Port Fairy after passing through Warrnambool;
  • Long line does not return (6 / 8 days): after arriving at Xiannu Port, continue to go west to the capital city of South Australia Adelaide, if it is self-driving, you can return the car directly in Adelaide after playing.

In addition, on the starting route, from Melbourne to Gillon, in addition to driving directly, there is a route that can travel south along M11 to Solento (Sorrento) at the southernmost end of the peninsula, and take the Ocean Road Ferry (Searoad Ferry), with a man to the small town of (Queenscliff), on the (Bellarine Peninsula) of Belingla Peninsula. Then drive to Jilang to start the back Great Ocean Road trip, if there is plenty of time, the Australian worry-free net recommends this route, although the ferry can only take about 40 minutes to reach, but the beautiful scenery of Philip Harbour (Port Phillp Bay), already leisurely blowing the sea breeze and drinking coffee on the boat, will certainly make you think this time is very worth it.
