De Bortoli Wines

58 Pinnacle Ln, Dixons Creek VIC 3775, Australia

Introduction of De Bortoli Wines

De Bortoli Wines is located in the north-western suburb of Healesville, a core town in the famed Victorian red wine-producing region of Yarra Valley, about 60km from downtown Melbourne, Victoria's capital.

De Bortoli Wines is one of the highest-profile wineries in the Yarra Valley, having won numerous international and domestic awards. The winery was founded in 1928 by Italian immigrant Vitorio De Bortoli and his wife Giuseppina. De Bortoli Wines in the Yarra Valley is now run by the family's third generation, Leanne De Bortoli, and her husband Steve Webber, the estate's chief brewer. And the oldest vine of the Yarra River also grows in the Fort Dolly Winery, creating excellent conditions for producing high-quality white wines from the Yarra Valley.

De Bortoli Wines began acquiring vineyards across Australia in 1982 to ensure every grape variety finds the most suitable place of origin for its style. At present, the vineyards are mainly located in four regions, with the largest production and size of the wineries in the Yarra Valley, where the cool climate is suitable for the growth of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Sangiovese, Tempranillo, of Europe; Shiraz and Semilon, where hunters grow in the valley; and Bilb, of the new South Bills of the No.1 Noble, is so far the best variety of the wineries.

The wines produced by De Bortoli Wines include the famous No.1 and some from the Yarra Valley. No.1 is considered the most honored wine in the history of the winery, it has won up to 352 gold medals and 104 other awards at home and abroad. Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has become a hot topic after giving six bottles of 2006 aristocratic one to Pope Benedict XVI as a gift. The wine, first made by Darren DePauly, was made in imitation of the French sweet Sauternes, but in Suday, the winemaker usually mixes Sauvignon Blanc with Savignon Blanc, while Nobility One uses only Savillon. The wine has a rich aroma of layers, including apricots, peaches and citrus. It's sweet and thick, but it's fresh and sour, so it's very balanced and is one of the few after-meal wines in Australia.
