William Ricketts Sanctuary is located in a fern-covered forest clearing in (Dandenong Ranges National Park), a range National Park on the eastern outskirts of Melbourne, Victoria's capital. It has become a quiet and beautiful place because of its natural environment and 92 mysterious pottery sculptures with aboriginal culture and nature that loomed in the path fern bushes.
William Likiz, a famous Australian ceramic and sculptor, was born in the Richmond District of Victoria in 1898 and settled in Dandnon in 1934 and died at the age of 94. ``Life is love. You and I are part of nature, and we are brothers of birds and trees.
Many of the pottery and sculptures made by Legiz throughout his life are located in the reserve. In 1930, William Likiz bought a four-acre woodland on Mount Danton, calling it the Potter' Nature Reserve. The news that the s Sanctuary), woodland had outstanding artist sculptures quickly spread. Finally, Victoria government bought the woodland in the 1960s and built it into a conservation park, where William Ricketz still lived and created until he died in 1993.
All the sculptures in William Ricketts Sanctuary are made of kiln-fired clay at temperatures of 1200 degrees Celsius and carefully displayed between rocks, ferns and mountain trees. These sculptures are the embodiment of Rickidz's idea that everyone should be the guardian of the natural environment like the indigenous people, who are also the inspiration for many of Rickitz's work.
