J Ward Museum is in Ararat., a small town in central Victoria.
J Ward Museum is located on a hill in Ararat, formerly Ararat Prison (Ararat Gaol). This is a turquoise building, built between 1860 and 1863, designed by the same architect as the Old Melbourne Prison, (Old Melbourne Gaol). The prison, which retired in 1989, is now open to the public as a museum. The site has a symbolic and cultural significance to Victoria, and the history of the psychopath has filled it with legends.
Guided by a volunteer tour guide, J Ward Museum, visitors will visit this historic building and listen to the stories that have happened here. It usually takes one and a half hours to visit.
