Penguin Island

Penguin Island is located on the southwest coast of Western Australia, about 50 kilometers from Perth, the coastal town of Rockingham..

Penguin Island is a small island of only 12 hectares, about 700 meters from the land line.

Penguin Island is undeveloped and retains a good and beautiful natural scenery, the most important reason for the name of Penguin Island, where more than 1200 wild tropical penguins live. Ferry is accessible by boat from the port of Rockingham. Because penguins usually come out at night, it is difficult to find little penguins when tourists get there during the day. In view of this, the local tourism department has opened a penguin viewing room for tourists, in which 10 penguins receive the public, as well as feeding performances.

Penguins do not receive visitors in Australia in winter to ensure that nesting penguins are not disturbed. In addition to penguins, other wild marine life can be seen on the island, such as dolphins, sea lions, stingrays, pelicans and a variety of seabirds. Passengers can also snorkeling, swimming, surfing, picnics or hiking by the sea.

At present, only Rockingham Wild Encounters operates cruise ships between Penguin Island and Rockingham and offers different one-day tours and visiting options for travelers to choose from.

Opening hours:

• Penguin Island nests on Guam during the annual penguin nesting season (June 3-September 14). Cruise time: 9: 00 15: 00 an hour; return time from the island: 10: 10, 11 / 10, 12 / 10, 13 / 10, 14 / 10, 15 / 10, 16 / 00.

Ticket price:

• Round trip tickets to and from Penguin Island and penguin feeding: $25 for adults, A $19 for children (3 + 12 years old) and A $75 for families (2 big and 2 small).
• Boat tickets only: $16 for adults, A $13.5 for children (3 x 12 years old) and A $52 for families (2 big and 2 small).
• Tickets can be bought directly from the cruise company's shop, which is open at 8: 30 / 16 / 30. If you want to take part in a group tour of the shipping company, you need to make an appointment in advance.

Traffic:

• Take the train Mandurah line to Rockingham Station, at the bus stop next to train station and take 551 (platform 9) or 552 (platform 10) to Penguin Rd, and follow Penguin Rd westward to the junction with Arcadia Dve, where the cruise ship company is also the place to go to Penguin Island.
