Introduction of Fremantle Prison

Fremantle Prison coastal town of fremantle (Fremantle) on the southern outskirts of Perth, the capital of western australia.

Fremantle Prison was the earliest prison in Western Australia and the largest building built by prisoners, built in 1850 and closed in 1991. Today, as a historical heritage, prisons also serve as galleries, museums and convention centres. Visitors can visit during the day, or hold torches on Thursday and Friday nights to explore the history of the prison, listening to long- myths. For adventurous tourists, the prison also offers authentic tours.

The gift shop and the security room in the prison are free to visit. If you want to get inside, you need to buy tickets at the door. There are three kinds of guided:

  • Doing Time Tour: introducing the history of prisons and the lives of prisoners;
  • Great Escapes Tour: to introduce the history of prison escape;
  • Tunnel Tour: take you to the underground world of prison, including an underground boating experience.

The first and second items can buy tickets directly at the door, one item is 20 Australian dollars, two coupons 28 Australian dollars, each item takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Third elephant needs to book in advance, if go early, perhaps still have the quota of that day, but depend on luck. So if you want to play, be sure to book, the price is 60 knife, because there are climbing ladders, walking in the dark and other activities, so it is recommended that good physical strength to participate.   • Take the Fremantel Line (Fremantle Line) from Perth train Station (Perth Train Station) in downtown Perth and get off at Fremantel Station (Fremantle Stn).
  • You Blue Cat Line (Blue Cat) of the Freemantel Free Bus (Fremantle CAT Bus) is also available at Freemantel Station.
