Rose Seidler House is located in Wahroonga, on the northern outskirts of Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, about 25 kilometers from the heart of Sydney.
Founded in 1950, designed by the late renowned architect Harry Sedler (Harry Seidler) for his parents, Rose Seidler House is one of the most representative modernist buildings in Australia and has a special status in the history of Australian residential architecture, when it was built. Because of the advanced design concept, the unique architectural style and the integration with the environment, the concept of Australian traditional dwellings was subverted, causing a sensation, and became the most talked about architecture of the Sydney people at that time, (the most talked about house in Sydney), came to the crowd of onlookers. So much so that Harry's parents, who live here, have to leave the house temporarily every weekend, because there are too many visitors.
Rose Seidler House was Harry's first success, and it was because of its success that young architects locked their careers in Australia and set up their own design firms, leaving many classic buildings for Australia.
Rose Seidler House is not a large area, the main villa into the mountains, through the glass curtain wall is the picturesque Kulinggai National Park (Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park), and the interior is integrated with a variety of modernist features, including the open layout, Minimalist color matching scheme, modern living facilities, etc.
Until now, more than 60 years later, Rose Seidler House still has a unique position in Australian architectural history, so that many students studying architectural design at Sydney consider visiting Rose Seidler House as one of their compulsory courses.
