Tasman Peninsula

Tasman Peninsula, Koonya TAS 7187, Australia

Introduction of Tasman Peninsula

Tasman Peninsula is located in the southeast of Tasmania, about 80 kilometers from Hobart, the capital of Tasmania.

The narrow Eagle Neck Gorge (Eaglehawk Neck) north of the Tasman Peninsula connects the Forrester Peninsula (Forestier Peninsula), which is about 27 km long and 19 km wide and covers an area of about 520 km2.

Tasman Peninsula coast twists and turns, many harbor. Because the wind and waves erode the coast many steep cliffs, sea erosion columns and caves, the waves break into sea erosion holes, forming fountains on the shore. The British government in 1830 built exile at Port Arthur (Port Arthur), on the south bank of Tasman Peninsula. The site has been partially restored, green mountains, blue waves, blue sky and pleasant scenery. It is now a tourist attraction. Many of the historical sites held as prisoners in colonial times have been listed on the Australian National Heritage List.
