Cape Hauy is located east of Horbart, the capital of Tasmania, at the easternmost tip of Tasman National Park on (Tasman Peninsula), Tasman Peninsula.
Cape Hauy is one of the three sea corners in the famous Sanhai Cape Corridor (Three Capes Track). The Sanhai Cape Trail is all located in Tasman National Park, which is about 48 kilometers long. It connects the Cape Hauy, Cape (Cape Pillar) and the (Cape Raoul) Cape (Cape Raoul) in series, including the section from Cape Piller to Cape Rawl, where the walkers need to cross the strait by boat to continue their journey. Sanhai Cape Trail was opened in November 2018 to enjoy 10755 hectares of natural scenery, wildlife and aurora, and was rated as the latest and hottest experience in Tasmania; no need to worry about getting lost, clear road signs will give travelers clear route guidance; and local tourism authorities have arranged helicopters for material delivery and patrols to ensure the safety of travelers.
Cape Haui, the easternmost of the three horns, is famous for its tallest seaside cliff in the southern hemisphere, with a thrilling and dazzling vertical cliff 300 meters above sea level.
In Cape Hauy, there is a magical stone pillar called totem column (Totem Pole), which is independent of the coast and rooted in the shuddering surging waves. It is thin, straight and 65 meters high. It is a wonder of Cape Hoi and a sacred place in the eyes of many rock climbers. British climber Paul Pritchard (Paul Pritchard) and his girlfriend Celia Boer (Celia Bull) came to Australia in February 1998 to climb the totem post. Paul pulled the rope during the crash, causing a big stone to fall 30 feet vertically from the totem post and hit his side of the head. After being injured, he fell into the sea and supported himself to the surface with vague consciousness. After three hours of hard work, Celia used a rope to drag him to a safe reef, running to (Fortescue Bay), eight kilometers away, and five hours later, the dying Paul was finally rescued; This is an almost impossible rescue, whether it is Paul's tenacious survival or Celia's all-out efforts, are worthy of our hat praise, if the story is only so far, it is fascinating enough, but the story is not over. Although Paul survived the accident, his left body was paralyzed and his memory declined so much that he not only seemed to bid farewell to his favorite rock climbing forever, but also almost ruined his life. Paul, however, never really forgot that he was a climber. After the accident, he returned to Tasmania many times and repeatedly went to Cape Hauy, the place where change had his life track, to speculate and plan a plan to focus on totem column. Finally, 18 years later, in April 2016, with the help of a close friend, Paul succeeded in reaching the top with only one hand and one leg with amazing perseverance. Paul described his journey from the first totem post to his final climb as a wonderful 18-year expedition, and that terrible accident was the most precious gift life had ever given him.
To see the totem column, you must go to the end of Cape Hauy, from which the stone pillar of the ghost axe goes straight into the sea like a needle of the sea god; in the fine weather, there is also a chance to see the brave climber climb the totem post as brave as Paul.
