Vaucluse House is located in (South Head peninsula), the eastern suburb of Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, about 10 kilometers from downtown Sydney and about 3 kilometers from (WatsonsBay) in Watsons Bay.
Vaucluse House is a famous Australian mansion, one of the few 19th century palace houses in Sydney. Its two-story building is like a castle, surrounded by huge venues and lush gardens. In 1827, colonial explorer, Grand lawer, and statesman William Charles Wentworth (William Charles Wentworth) bought the 9.2 hectares of land, and he and his wife Sarah began to operate carefully for more than 40 years, thus developing Vaucluse House into a picturesque manor. After Wentworth died in 1872, government in Sydney held a grand national funeral for him and buried him in a tomb in a rock in Vaucluse House.
Although, Vaucluse House, which has a history of nearly 200 years, is still luxurious today, visit Vaucluse House to learn about the colonial history of Australia. There are many cheap and affordable restaurants by the harbor, which is a good place for tourists to enjoy the quiet and charming scenery of the harbor, as well as to enjoy coffee at the same time. Built in a beautiful garden, Vaucluse House is the house of the early colonists of Sydney, with different views of the Sydney harbour.
In 1915, Vaucluse House was opened as a family museum by government, New South Wales, to showcase the lives of the Wentworth couple and their ten children. In 2015, the Sydney Life Museum (Sydney Living Museums) also held the first centenary celebration of the creation of Vaucluse House as a museum.
