Introduction of Camellia Gardens

Camellia Gardens is located in Caringbah, Sutherland (Sutherland Shire), Southern District, New South Wales, about 25 kilometers from downtown Sydney.

On 29 April 1770, Captain James Cook (Captain James Cook) landed in Karnell (Kurnell), Sutherland County, Sydney .200 years later, the Sutherland County government decided to build a camellia-themed garden in the Caringba area to commemorate it, named after the late Professorory Waterhouse (Eben Gowrie Waterhouse,1881-1977), the world's leading camellia authority, who once lived in Sydney..

Camellia Gardens brings together many precious camellia varieties in the world and is an international leading camellia garden area. Because camellia bloom mainly in autumn and winter, in order to make the garden more colorful, gardeners added some other flowers, shrubs and annual plants in the park, such as camellia, roses and so on, so that Camellia Gardens became a veritable four-season garden: camellia blooms in early spring, followed by summer roses, camellia blooms from mid-October, and in late autumn there are colorful red leaves. The park has a stream called karena (Kareena Creek) flowing through and directly into the port of hakin (Port Hacking), thus attracting a lot of wild ducks and migrating rare birds, more special is living here a lot of gray-headed fox bats, is a unique species of australian fox bats, is also the largest bat in australia, so listed as protected animals.
