St Patrick's Cathedral

1 Cathedral Pl, East Melbourne VIC 3002, Australia

Introduction of St Patrick's Cathedral

St Patrick's Cathedral (St Patrick's Cathedral) is located on the edge of the heart of Victoria's capital, Melbourne, on the edge of the Victorian Parliament Building, (Parliament House).

St Patrick's Cathedral is the Bishop's Cathedral of the Roman Catholic Melbourne Parish, and is one of the most representative Gothic architecture in the 19th century. The cathedral was designed by British architect William Waldell (William Wardell) in 1863 and opened in October 1897. The church's three minarets were not completed until 1939, commemorating the Roman Almighty Church's 100 years of preaching in Victoria.

St Patrick's Cathedral fully showcased Renaissance architectural style and grandeur, with the church's towering spires striking within the Melbourne skyline, with the tallest spires of 103 meters and two other spires of 61 metres, making them the tallest churches in the Southern Hemisphere. The church has a rich collection of craftsmanship, including meticulous painted window glass, exquisite wood carvings and craftsmanship, highlighting the grandeur and solemnity of the Catholic Church. This hall is the traditional east-west axis, the altar is located in the east end, Latin cross plane. When the pope visited Australia, St. Patrick's Cathedral was often the only Catholic church in Australia where the Pope visited and presided over the mass. In 1974, Pope Paul VI sealed the church as a monastery. 1986. Pope John Paul II is here to visit.

St Patrick's Cathedral has long been the most widely reported church in Melbourne Media, where annual Easter prayers, Christmas prayers and New Year's Eve prayers for the New year are broadcast live on Melbourne local television stations. Funerals of many of Australia's leading figures and public mourning for Australia's victims of major disasters are also often held in the church, where many citizens hold weddings, funerals and leisure walks on weekdays. It is also one of the key tourist attractions for tourists.
