Founded in 1845 on the south bank of the (Yarra River) in Victoria's capital, the Melbourne, Yala River, Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne is considered one of the best botanical gardens in Australia and one of the bustling Outer Peach Gardens, with an area of about 38 hectares.
Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne brings together more than 10000 species of exotic flowers and grasses. Because Melbourne is warm and frost-free in winter, almost all tropical, subtropical and temperate trees can be grown here. The botanical garden features trees planted by many Australian and foreign celebrities, such as Victoria Attorney General Ratrob, Queen Victoria's husband Prince Albert, and Australia's famous opera actress Nellie Merbah. British detective novelist Conan Doyle, former British Prime Minister McMillan, former Canadian Prime Minister Divinbeck, Queen Elizabeth II's husband Duke Of Edinburgh, The Prince Philip, and King Bhumibol of Thailand, Polish pianist Padalevsky and others have planted trees here.
At the same time, Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne is also a witness to history, the garden still retains some of the architecture of the last century. Tourists can walk along dirt roads in a small piece of pristine rainforest, take a Frisbee to a large lawn everywhere, and a 4-kilometer-long running road runs through it. Eels and black swans can also be seen in the lake in the garden.
The botanical garden also has leisure spaces where visitors can enjoy delicious meals in the patio teahouse (Terrace Tearooms) and watchtower coffee shop (Observatory Caf é, and the award-winning botanical garden store is a great place to buy plant-related souvenirs and gifts. In summer, occasional activities such as outdoor movies, theatrical performances and exhibitions are often organized in the garden.
