Princes Bridge is named after Prince of Wales (Prince of Wales), later Edward VII. The current Princes Bridge is the third bridge built in the same location. The first wooden bridge was built in 1845 and a stone bridge was rebuilt after it was dismantled in 1850. The current arch iron bridge was built in 1888 and has a history of more than 100 years.
