Introduction of The Cedars

The Cedars is located on the northern outskirts of Hahndorf, a German town in (Adelaide Hill) in Mount Adelaide, on the southeast outskirts of South Australia's capital Adelaide, about 3 kilometers from the heart of Hahndorf.

The Cedars is an elegant old manor with an area of 60 hectares and was the home and studio of Sir Hans Hitchen (Sir Hans Heysen), one of Australia's greatest painters, whose studio in Hahndorf was founded in 1912. Here left a lifetime of hard work, until his death in 1968. Visitors to The Cedars, can visit materials and tools, sketches, notes, etc., enjoy the works of art left behind by Sir Hitchen, and learn about Sir Hitchen's life. Sir Hitchen's daughter Nora Hitchen (Nora Heysen) was awarded the Archibald (Archibald) award and her studio is open for visitors to showcase a range of her works.

In addition, The Cedars owns a trailing farmhouse garden, part of the South Australian Open Garden (South Australian Open Garden), with a 60-hectare manor featuring a hiking trail along the path. You can reach the artist's favorite painting location.
