Convent Gallery Daylesford

7 Daly St, Daylesford VIC 3460, Australia

Introduction of Convent Gallery Daylesford

Convent Gallery Daylesford is located in the resort town of Daylesford., inland in central Victoria.

Convent Gallery Daylesford, originally a private mansion, was later converted into a convent by the local Catholic Holy see, once abandoned in the last century, until it was bought by sculptor Tina Benetsk (Tina Banitska) in 1988. And transformed it into a magnificent museum of art, become one of Daylesford's most famous attractions.

In design, Tina did not attempt to completely erase the traces of the monastery, and the most important part of the chapel was restored and preserved exactly as it was, accompanied by a room that once belonged to the most devout nuns; The rest of the space, including corridors and attic, is set up as a showroom to showcase and collect works by indigenous young artists.

Over and over again, Convent Gallery Daylesford was opened to the public in 1991. Convent Gallery Daylesford retained the 19th-century Victorian-style mansion and stood out from the modern art galleries; The exhibition of contemporary works of art at home and abroad makes it the most special existence in the solemn monastery. The gallery has seven showrooms that change the theme of the exhibition every eight weeks in the fields of fine paintings, sculptures, limited-edition prints, pottery, glass utensils and textiles, showcasing a wide range of traditional and modern works of art.

In addition to the exhibition, Convent Gallery Daylesford has also set up cafes and chicken-tail bars that Australians cannot lack; As a solemn monastery, it also offers a wedding service, and it would be an unforgettable experience to have a wedding in an art gallery with a beautiful view of the monastery.

Traveling down from the top of the gallery, it will pass through the renovated centennial chapel and the small rooms inhabited by the nuns, all of which are precious historic sites; Push open the glass door, climb the hill along the garden path, enjoy the monastery's full picture, see the boundless town scenery, the scenery is extremely beautiful.
