Art Gallery of Ballarat

40 Lydiard St N, Ballarat Central VIC 3350, Australia

Introduction of Art Gallery of Ballarat

Founded in 1884, Art Gallery of Ballarat is the oldest and largest regional art organization in Australia, located in Ballarat (Ballarat), Victoria's third-largest city. A portion of the museum's collection and ancient buildings are now on Australia's Victorian Heritage list. The museum is known for its famous Eureka flag, (Eureka Flag), and Australian art from the colonial period to this day.

In 2001, the museum was expanded on a large scale. The new museum is similar to the modern works contained in the museum, like a sculpture with modern aesthetics, and organically integrated with the surrounding historic architecture. The new pavilion extends to the newly opened public area of the Kemp district, and its iconic appearance implies the revitalization of the museum. The new building uses brick and turquoise as the main building materials to connect itself with the surrounding buildings.
