Aspen Island, Parkes ACT 2600, Australia

Introduction of National Carillon

National Carillon on Asban Island (Aspen Island), east of Griffin Lake (Lake Burley Griffin), in downtown the capital territory, pedestrians can walk through a pedestrian bridge to the foot of the bell tower.

National Carillon is a gift from the British government to the Commonwealth of Australia, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Canberra's becoming the Australian capital, officially inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II in 1970.

National Carillon one of the uses is to report time, in the whole moment and on time, the bell tower will automatically play the traditional Westminster bell. Furthermore, a set of 55 clock clocks National Carillon hung, each weighing between 7 kg and 6 tons, and the bell towers often perform in rows. The best place to listen to the bell is in the lake shore area within 100 meters from the bell tower, but usually the bell can always reach the parliament Triangle and Citizen Center (Civic). As the bell tower's three blades are flanked by quartz and Opal, the outer wall of the tower will glow in the night light, making it more beautiful.

National Carillon is of great importance to both residents of the country and foreign is the best place to celebrate Australia's National Day (Australia Day) and other traditional festivals every year.
