Sze Yup Temple

2 Edward St, Glebe NSW 2037, Australia

Introduction of Sze Yup Temple

Sze Yup Temple is located in Glebe, on the western outskirts of Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, about 3 kilometers from the city of Sydney.

Built in 1898, Sze Yup Temple was one of the earliest Chinese monasteries built in Sydney, hidden in the green bushes of the back streets of the residential area, adjacent to the emerald park and looking at the blue bay.

Sze Yup Temple is the spiritual home of many people who believe in Guan Gong's good faith. For more than a hundred years, this Taoist view has been flourishing and incense and fire has never stopped. Every year the lunar calendar June 24, is the three Kingdoms period Shu Han University General Guan Yu's birthday, the great hidden in the city of Sze Yup Temple, cars and dragons, people boisterous, gongs and drums. Guan Gong-Ben is the embodiment of loyalty and righteousness. As the hero of ancient China, there were 16 emperors in China to seal Guan Yu's imperial decree, and the people respected him as Wu sage, master of grace and master of wealth. Is many overseas Chinese seek wealth idol, in the Chinese business shop, the restaurant, often will see the traditional Guan Emperor statue shrine.

"Siyi", that is, Taishan, Kaiping, Xinhui and Enping, in Guangdong Province, is collectively known as the four counties, which are bordering on each other, having the same language, living habits and marriage customs, and we all believe in Guan Emperor, because of the relationship between the country, the blood and the karma. In Sydney, the Chinese in Siyi were naturally linked together, and, Sze Yup Temple was built for the early Chinese who came to Australia from Siyi, Guangdong Province, to donate and buy land for gold. It is only a few kilometers away from Sydney Chinatown (Sydney Chinatown) and the (Surry Hills) area of Mount Sally, where most of the early Chinese lived, but because of the changes of our times, the area is now full of artists, painters and hippies, except for this temple. There are few signs of Chinese Chinatown.

Sze Yup Temple honors Guan Yu, a general of the Shu and Han dynasties during the three Kingdoms period, and Guan Gong-Ben is the embodiment of loyalty and righteousness, but he has become an idol for Chinese people seeking wealth overseas. Businessmen all like to put on a statue of Guan Emperor in their shops, and every Lunar New year is the occasion of the Lunar New year. In addition to Siyi people coming here to worship God Guan, who dressed up as an ancient costume opera, sent a "Lis" to everyone at the Chinatown or the overseas Chinese Society spring tea banquet, which was widely welcomed by the people of Siyi, who came here to worship the gods and hope for good luck next year. There are also many other Chinese specially to come here, hoping to get rid of poverty and become rich in the coming year, everything will be all right.
