Ross

Introduction of Ross

Located in central Tasmania, between Horbart, the capital of Tasmania, and (Launceston), the second largest city, Ross is about 120km by car from Hobart and 80km from Lanceston, a quiet town with a long history. The resident population is less than 300.

Ross was built in 1812, where time seemed to hold its feet, a small town, a main street, a few side streets, but of considerable size in the nineteenth century, where the women's prison alone held 12000 women prisoners. Now the town is very quiet, many hundred years of dwellings still remain, the town's ancient stone bridge, old church, century-old shop has added a beautiful color to the town. The houses in the town were beige-colored walls, green-tipped roofs, set against the shadows of tall oaks, elms and conifers, with almost every family planted with flowers, a neat and dreamy idyllic landscape.

Ross is rumored to be the original vision of MiyazakiHayao's the Devil's Homestead, where MiyazakiHayao lived for a month. If you are familiar with the animation, tourists will find that the scene on the street is somewhat similar to the animation scene. Two and three yuan overlap here, and the town's most famous Ross bakery (Ross Bakery) is the place where the magic girl Xiaoqi works. This was later denied by Mr. MiyazakiHayao, but could not stop tourists from coming here to follow the Little Devil.

The crossroads in the center of town are the famous four-corner street (Four Corners of Ross), the four corners of which are situated in four buildings with very different functions and meanings: bars, churches, courthouses and prisons. Temptation (Temtation), Redemption (Salvation), Rebirth (Recreation) and Curse (Curse), stand on Quadrature Street, feeling like they are at the crossroads of life. Another famous attraction in the town is Ross Bridge (Ross Bridge), a beautiful sandstone bridge built in 1836, Australia's third-oldest bridge. The exquisite relief on the bridge makes it hard for visitors to imagine that it was built by exiled women prisoners.
