(The Australian National University, ANU), a world-famous public comprehensive research university in the Australian capital Canberra, was founded in 1946. History of Australian National University education
In the 20th century:
The Australian National University was founded under a special bill passed by the Australian Federal parliament. The bill was co-sponsored by then Australian Prime Minister Joseph Benedict Chefley (Joseph Benedict Chifley) and John Diddman (John Dedman), director of the Post-World War II Reconstruction Commission. The bill, which was fully supported by opposition party leader Robert Menzis (Robert Menzies), was passed on August 1, 1946. The bill is the Australian National University Act.
