History of Australian National University education 

In the 20th century:

The Australian National University was founded under a special bill passed by the Australian Federal parliament. The bill was co-sponsored by then Australian Prime Minister Joseph Benedict Chefley (Joseph Benedict Chifley) and John Diddman (John Dedman), director of the Post-World War II Reconstruction Commission. The bill, which was fully supported by opposition party leader Robert Menzis (Robert Menzies), was passed on August 1, 1946. The bill is the Australian National University Act.

The purpose of the school is to establish a top research national university to enhance Australia`s overall academic research strength. ANU has also become the only national university in Australia set up by a federal parliament dedicated to legislation (the name: National), is different from other public universities in Australia-all set up by parliament legislation, a state from all over the country.
