Date of issuance of TSS visa

The old 457 visa can still be applied before the TSS visa officially begins.


Changes in the list of technical occupations

The Ministry of the Interior reminded immigration agents to be aware that the list of technical occupations would be adjusted accordingly, such as the list of visas guaranteed by employers in remote areas that would add jobs; Some jobs change between long-and medium-term lists and short-term lists, helping to increase new jobs in remote areas.


How to handle New and Old Visa during transition period

Submit an SBS application for employer-guaranteed eligibility before the TSS visa is implemented: this is subject to old requirements, but will still be affected by policy arrangements such as the extension of the guarantee to five years and the fact that training fees will not be covered by the payment of the SAF fund.

The application for employer nomination was submitted prior to the implementation of the TSS visa: if the relevant visa application is submitted prior to the implementation of the TSS visa, the nomination and individual visa are still processed in accordance with the old requirements; If the visa is not available and the application is submitted prior to the implementation of the TSS visa, the nomination application will be administratively processed and the nomination fee will be refunded.

TSS Visa employer advantage

LMT test requirement

LMT (Labour Market Testing) is a necessary requirement for an TSS visa, which requires employers to have a variety of recruitment channels, not just general classification websites, recruitment advertisements must be written in English; Job advertisements must reach the required minimum time and must be within a specific period of time before the nomination application is submitted.


Work experience requirements

The TSS visa requires the applicant to have at least two years of full-time work experience in the nominated profession or related field and needs to be accumulated during the first five years of the submission; part-time work experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.


Short-term TTS renewal

Applicants for short-term TSS visas must be submitted abroad in the following cases:

  • Has held more than one short-term TSS visa
  • The last TSS visa was submitted in Australia

This requirement will not be inconsistent with any international trade obligation ITO.

Note: applicants with multiple short-term TSS visa history need to pay extra attention to their compliance with the GTE requirements of the visa.

  • Labour Market Testing: applications for a 482 visa are subject to labour market testing in all cases, except for international trade agreements. The rule's change will delay the passage of 482 visas, which has a significant impact on applicants whose visas are due to expire.
  • Visa duration: it is divided into two directions, one is a short period of two years, the other is a medium-term period of four years. 482 visas can only be renewed once for two years, and four-year visas can be renewed or apply for permanent residence visas. However, there are higher requirements for the applicant's English ability and whether he or she is on the list of occupations.
  • According to the applicant's country of residence, Australian police officials will review the applicant's criminal record for several months. Unless the applicant has a criminal record, 457 visas are no longer necessary.
