Burra, a small town with a long mining history in the north-central part of South Australia, is now completely closed, leaving many historic sites for visitors.

At the Burra tourist Information Centre (Burra Visitor Information Centre, address: 2 Market Square, Burra SA 5417), visitors can purchase a Burra heritage passport (Burra Heritage Password) and have unlimited access to these historic sites and museums, including not limited to the following locations:

  • Monster mine (Monster Mine Area)
  • Redruz Prison (Redruth Gaol)
  • Hampton (Hampton)
  • Unicorn brewery wine cellar (The Underground Unicorn Brewery Cellars)
  • Canoe (The Dugouts)
  • Police Detention Unit and stable (Police Lockup and Stables)
  • Mofett computer Room Museum (Morphett's Engine House Museum)
  • Ben Akod Mine (Bon Accord Mine Site)
  • Bazaar Square Museum (Market Square Museum)
  • Powder Depot (Powder Magazine)

Visitors will be given a detailed guide to help explore the cultural heritage route's site, Burra Heritage Trail, which is 11 km long and has a clear logo around the town, with 49 sites along the route.
