Tamar Island Wetlands

W Tamar Hwy, Riverside TAS 7250, Australia

Introduction of Tamar Island Wetlands

Tamar Island Wetlands is located in the northwest suburb of Launceston, Tasmania's second-largest city, about 12 kilometers from the city of Launceston.

(Tamar Island), a small island on the Tama River (River Tamar), covers an area of about 60 hectares and is connected to a wooden walking bridge on land. It is about 2 km walking from the Tama humidity interpretation Center (Tamar Island Wetlands Centre) in W Tamar Hwy. With wetlands and a large area of Reed grass, Tama Island is an important habitat for birds, and a bird-watching resort for tourists, where it can watch the rich variety of birds that inhabit wetlands and lagoon and enjoy tranquil leisure time.

The Tama humidity interpretation Centre organises a variety of activities from time to time by volunteers to introduce visitors to wetland ecology, macroinvertebrates and pest fish.
