RMIT University, Melbourne City Campus (RMIT University, Melbourne City Campus) is located in downtown Melbourne, Victoria's capital.
The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology is an integrated public university, one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in Australia, bringing in a large number of outstanding graduates from academia, politics and business. RMIT has three schools: business school, school of design and social sciences, and institute of science, engineering and technology. As early as it was founded in 1887, RMIT became famous for its professional curriculum standards. During World War II, RMIT trained a great deal of technical talent for the coalition forces, so Queen Elizabeth II granted RMIT the title of Royal and awarded the Royal Special Fund. Today, after 130 years, RMIT has become the world's top university with the largest engineering institute in Australia; in the 2016 QS World University rankings, it ranked 16th in arts and design and 36th in construction and construction environments. Its graduates are internationally recognized for advertising, art, communications, design, engineering and technology.
The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology has multiple campuses that, like other Australian universities, are open campuses that integrate with the surrounding communities:
