Sugarloaf Rock, also translated as Sweetbread Rock, is at Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park's northernmost tip at the southwestern corner of Western Australia, Cape Naturalist, about a 12-kilometer drive from the nearest town, the resort town of Dunsborough, about 260km from Perth, the Western Australian capital.
Sugarloaf Rock, a huge granite island that surrounds the ocean, occupies the main spot on the coastline near Cape Nadoulis, and is one of Western Australia's most deserving sea views, where visitors can see seasoned ice fisherman taking on the challenge at the edge of the rock, but amateurs can't cope with the powerful surge.
As a nature reserve, Sugarloaf Rock is also a nesting paradise for seabirds, where red-tailed tropical birds inhabit between September and February each year, the only known nesting area for this unique tropical bird. On top of that, there are playful bottlenose dolphins and humpback whales on the nearby sea.
Visitors can enjoy the view of Sugarloaf Rock and the magnificent views of the nearby surf and cliffs from the Lookout on the edge of Sugarloaf Rock, with a path to the view from the Sugarloaf Rock parking lot.
The famous Cape to Cape Walk Trail (Cape Nadoulis to Cape Levine Cape Cape Leeuwin) crosses Sugarloaf Rock, and experienced trekkers can try to challenge the 140-kilometer trail, with luck seeing humpback whales and southern whales along the coast.
