Kununurra Diversion Dam

Lakeview Dr, Kununurra WA 6743, Australia

Introduction of Kununurra Diversion Dam

Kununurra Diversion Dam's small town of Kununurra, in (East Kimberley Region), northeast Western Australia, is about 5 kilometers from the center of the town.

The magnificent Kununurra Diversion Dam is part of the Ode irrigation program (Ord Irrigation Scheme), which aims to use the vast amount of water flowing through the Oder River, (Ord River), to be used for farming. The dam, with 20 radial gates, is placed in concrete spillways, and irrigation systems rely on gravity to feed the river into the canals and then into farmland in the north and south of the town.

The Kununurra Diversion Dam can be driven, and the dam itself is part of the Victorian high-speed (Victoria Highway). On top of Kununurra Diversion Dam, Lake Kununurra (Lake Kununurra) is scenic and suitable for various forms of water sports, including cruise, boating, fishing and water motorboat.
