Richardsons Enginehouse

Moonta Mines SA 5558, Australia

Introduction of Richardsons Enginehouse

Richardsons Enginehouse is located on the southeastern outskirts of Moonta, the coastal town of (Yorke Peninsula) on the Yorker Peninsula in southern Australia, about 3 kilometers from the heart of Moonta.

Moonta, a small town with a long history of mining, was built in 1869 at the Richmond Refinery to refine ore collected from nearby mines, during which time it ceased to operate until the mine was closed in 1923. Refineries have undergone many changes and upgrades to meet the ever-changing needs of mining and processing technology.

Now, as a historical site, it is open to the public. The main buildings are well preserved, and you can see the prosperity of that year. Visitors can go to the engine house and the observation tower on the tailing heap through the walkway to explore. There is a sign of the remaining building explanation.
