Lake Argyle is located in the northeast corner of Western Australia, the border of the Northern Territory of (North Territory), about 3400 kilometers from Perth, the capital of Western Australia, and about 825km from Darwin, the capital of the Northern Territory. Lake Argyle, the largest man-made freshwater lake in Western Australia and the second largest in Australia, was built in 1972. During the flood period, the water area of, Lake Argyle can reach a staggering 703 square kilometers, nearly 20 times the size of Sydney Port (Sydney Harbour).
