Mallacoota is a small coastal town in southeastern Victoria, East Gippsland (East Gippsland region), at the junction of Victoria and New South Wales, within the entrance to the Karagong National Park (Croajingolong National Park), the Waragra River (Wallagaraugh River), about 515 km from the Victoria Capital Melbourne and about 640 km from the New South Wales Capital, with a permanent population of about 1,000 people.
