What are the main conditions for applying for a 482 visa?

The mid-term 482 visa is valid for up to 4 years, and the applicant can apply for a permanent residence visa after 3 years. The main conditions of application are:

  • Nominating occupations are listed in the list of medium-and long-term technical occupations (Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List)
  • At least 2 years of nominating professional or related work experience
  • Will work directly in the nominating unit or its affiliated bodies (except for a small number of exempted occupations)
  • IELTS test items are not less than 5 or equal to other language tests, except for a small number of applicants exempted from the English language requirement

What are the restrictions on my work with a 482 visa?

You will be subject to clause 8607. Similar to work restrictions on 457 visas, 482 visa holders can only work for nominating employers and engage in nominating occupations.
