Geographical location of St. Catherine Girls` School 

The school is located in (Waverley), Waverley, 15 kilometers from International Airport and 7 kilometers from downtown Sydney. , Charing Cross, the local shopping mall, is five minutes` walk from school. There are federal banks, pharmacies, laundry, bakeries, cafes and clothing shops. The school is only a short walk from the beautiful Bronte Beach (Bronte Beach). The bus stop is just outside the school. Students can get to Bondi Junction. by 400 bus. The taxi fare from Sydney International Airport to school is about A $60.


Curriculum of St. Catherine Girls` School 

Grade 10: during Grade 7, students are required to learn English, mathematics, science, history, technology, visual arts, personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE), Bible research, French or Chinese and music. The school also offers courses in specific fields based on students` special interests or previous teaching experience.

Grade 8: students of age 8 can choose two elective courses from French, Chinese, Japanese, Latin, Spanish, music and visual arts.

Grade 9: nine-year-old students can choose three elective courses as complementary to mathematics, English and science. St. Catherine Girls` School has courses in drama, visual arts, history, language, design technology, food craftsmanship, music and e-business. Students must choose one of the courses for continuous study during grades 9 and 10.

Grades 11-12: the school provides a strong academic team for students in grades 11 and 12 to support the academic challenges they face in high school. Because of the small size of the class, students can get rich feedback from their teachers on a regular basis. Before choosing the HSC (New South Wales High School Certificate) course, students can identify the college major or future career direction they want to choose under the guidance of course selection counselors and career counsellors.

Service education

Participation in community service is a vital part of St. Catherine`s girls` school education. Service education gives students a chance to show compassion, kindness and generosity. Students and staff support national and international organizations through advocacy programmes, donation of goods and money, and participation in volunteer work.

Students have participated in the Salvation Army`s annual Red Shield fundraiser, (Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal), Legacy,Bread of Life homeless Shelter, 40 hours of Hunger experience (40 Hour Famine), smile Foundation (SMILE Foundation), British children`s charity Barnados (Barnados) and other charities.

Students can carry out service education individually or in groups. They can raise money, volunteer and promote the awareness of charitable aid organizations. They may become Red Cross blood ambassadors, participate in Hunger 40 to raise funds for charities, solve poverty problems for philanthropy, provide services to the homeless or donate money to charities on a regular basis.

The ancient stone room (The Old Stone House)-the ancient stone room of St. Catherine School is still a feature of the school today. This historic building was completed in 1859 and is now the administrative center of the school.

Isabel Hall (Isabel Hall)-Isabel Hall was originally an on-campus apartment, and the building was fully rebuilt and reopened as a teaching building on the 150th anniversary of the school`s construction in 2006. In 2007, he won two awards for public architecture and sustainable architecture from the Royal Australian Institute of Architects ((Royal Australian Institute of Architects)).

JOKARAOLIS SPORT CENTER-Designed by Alec Tzannes in 2002, the sports center is connected to junior high school and high school campuses. Swimming pool-the school has an open-air swimming pool that can be used for water polo, swimming training and carnival.

Boarding apartment-the boarding apartment is made up of the top floor of Old Stone house and the old library building (Lanser Building). From 1903 to 1934, it was named Lanser Building by female headmaster and formerly Helen Lanser Building. This is the home of 70 boarders and 7 staff.

The FAITH PATTERSON Research Center, named after St. Catherine`s longest-serving female principal who has served the school for 32 years, integrates science laboratories, senior libraries and social science classrooms, then merges with Jane Barker Hall and is named after the school`s founder.

The St. Catherine Museum, originally an art studio founded in 1880, was vacant in 1992 and reopened in 1996 as a celebration of its 140th anniversary.
