From Monday night to early morning, tens of thousands of Tasmanians watched the first Antarctic light of the year: a huge green glow that lit up the entire coastal sky of Tasmania.

From Monday night to early morning, tens of thousands of Tasmanians watched the first Antarctic light of the year: a huge green glow that lit up the entire coastal sky of Tasmania.

Photographer Leena Wizz captured many spectacular photo, which she filmed in the D'Entrecasteaux Channel Canyon. She was very lucky, because there were no clouds here, and the clouds elsewhere were thicker.

She said there is now a rapidly expanding circle of Antarctic enthusiasts in Australia, who often predict the appearance of the aurora on fb, usually three days ahead of schedule.
