Watarrka National Park is located in the south of the Northern Territory, about 440km from Alice Springs (Alice Springs) and about 290km from Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park) and covers an area of 1051.85 square kilometers.
Watarrka National Park is known for its (Kings Canyon, (also known as King's Valley), where the place names come from aboriginal languages and are meant to thrive in the umbrella forest, where the Lurita (Luritja) aborigines have made Watarrka National Park their home for more than 20,000 years.
King's Valley is located at the west end of George Kiel range (George Gill Ranges), around the center of Alice Springs and Uluru (Uluru). The ancient canyon, which stands above the lush palm forest and consists of tall red rock walls, is a reserve for more than 600 species of native plants and animals, many of which are unique to the region. The towering sand wall of the Imperial Valley is formed by the erosion of small cracks over millions of years. The rocks in the valley are weathered, fault and other geological processes, forming different geological landscapes, especially the fault rocks that seem to have been cut by a knife. The height reaches 270 meters, the scenery is charming.
At sunrise or sunset, it takes 3 hours to climb to the top edge of King's Valley to challenge the six-kilometer edge trail of the Crown Canyon, (Kings Canyon Rim Walk),. When you reach the top, you can enjoy the spectacular view of the canyon below, as well as the beauty surrounding it. Let the aboriginal elders lead you along the fringes to learn more about what this area means to these traditional masters.
Then on to the garden of Eden, (Garden of Eden), beneath the canyon, a permanent pool surrounded by lush jungle. Explore the natural wonders of strange weathered rocks, such as the lost city of (Lost City). For less energetic travelers, the valley floor is shorter, and the relaxed (Kings Creek) trail of King's Creek will take you through the dense ferns and eucalyptus. The 22-kilometer Gareth path (Giles Track) connects King's Valley to Kathleen Springs (Kathleen Springs), which is loved by adventurers.
Visitors can also take camel trips, take camels to explore the landscape of the area, or take four-wheeled motorcycles to inland cattle farms still in operation: King's Creek Post Station, (Kings Creek Station). To enjoy the true beauty and grandeur of the monarch valley, take a landscape helicopter and take a bird's eye view of the canyon from above.
