Undara Volcanic National Park

Undara Volcanic National Park, Mount Surprise QLD 4871, Australia

Introduction of Undara Volcanic National Park

Undara Volcanic National Park is located in the northern part of Queensland, about 1730 kilometers by car from Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, and about 260km from the famous tourist city of Cairns on the northern coast of Queensland, covering an area of about 615km.

Undara Volcanic National Park is known for its majestic lava pipeline, (Lava tubes), a tunnel-like passage formed by volcanic eruptions that were formed about one hundred and ninety thousand years ago and up to 45 kilometers in length. Undara Volcanic National Park is the longest lava pipeline in the world. In contrast to the surrounding dry grasslands, Rain Water provides an ecological environment for breeding a range of animals and plants.

Lava pipes can only be seen with groups, and the Udara experience (Undara Experience) offers a professional tour guide, in addition, visitors can walk along the edge of the Calcani crater (Kalkani Crater), or explore a self-help walkway. Sun-shaded bats watch the sunset as they get out of the hole, and nearby resorts provide accommodation and camping areas.
