Introduction of Awoonga Lake

Awoonga Lake (Lake Awoonga) is located in the southern suburb of Rockhampton (Rockhampton) in central Queensland, about 30 kilometers from Rockhampton.

Awoonga Lake is a man-made lake formed by (Awoonga Dam) of Awenga Dam, which cut off the Boin River (Boyne River). It covers an area of about 6750 hectares and has a clear water quality. It is the main source of drinking water in the Rockhampton area.

In 2007, a 33.3 kg Australian lung fish was caught here, setting an Australian record.
