Jervis Bay is located in the eastern part of New South Wales, (The City of Shoalhaven), is a 16 km north-west, 10 km wide natural port, located in the third largest city of New South Wales, Wolonggang (Wollongong) about 115 km south. About 200km from Sydney, the capital of New South Wales.
Jervis Bay is known as one of the safest and most beautiful beaches in the world, is a top dive (snorkeling) and leisure fishing place, of which Haimes Beach (Hyams Beach) is the most famous and popular one. It is listed in the Guinness Book of Records for having the whitest beach in the world. Jervis Bay has a wide range of towns around the coastline, the main town being Heskeeson (Huskisson), which is the main starting point for Jervis Bay dolphin tours, fishing trips and nautical trips.
Jervis Bay is also an ideal place to watch whales, and the historic Cape St. Georges lighthouse, (Cape St George Lighthouse), is the perfect place to watch whales migrate every year, as Jervis Bay exports are on the north-south migration route of cetaceans. Some cetaceans choose to take a break in Jervis Bay. Most of the whales found in Jervis Bay are humpback whales, which migrate along Australia's eastern coast between May and November each year, according to observations. In addition to humpback whales, southern right whales, killer whales, pseudo-killer whales and minke whales have also been found, sometimes even blue whales.
