Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens (Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens) is located in the northern interior of New South Wales, about 20 kilometers east from Byron Bay, the famous resort town, and about 90 kilometers north from the Golden Coast, Queensland's second-largest city.
Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens is a quiet and charming private botanical garden known for its largest purple crystal cave in the world. Chamberlain (Shambhala) is a transliteration of Tibetan language and translated as Shangri-la, which is the ideal pure land for Tibetan Buddhists to pursue, that is, "the world of bliss" and "the fairyland of the world".
Nalen King (Naren King) bought the unusual building, known as the castle, in 1986 and opened it to the public.
Crystal Castle & Shambhala Gardens's five-hectare picturesque garden and rainforest are littered with giant crystals and fossils of statues as if in an ancient labyrinth. Here is the unique sign of the Dalai Lama in the Southern Hemisphere: the World Peace Pagoda.
