Cape Wickham Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in Australia at the northernmost tip of (King Island), the outlying royal island of (Bass Strait), on the Bess Strait of Tasmania. It is 48 meters high and is Australia's tallest lighthouse.
The Cape Wickham Lighthouse, built in 1861 and killed 16 years after the sinking of the ship Cataraqui 16 years ago, was one of Australia's biggest shipwrecks, when the government decided to build the lighthouse to navigate ships. The lighthouse is now fully automated and open to the public in 2011.
