Clayton Heritage Farm

147 Clayton Farm Track, Bordertown SA 5268, Australia

Introduction of Clayton Heritage Farm

Clayton Heritage Farm is located on the southern outskirts of Bordertown, a small town on the limestone coast of (Limestone Coast), South Australia, about 3 kilometers from the heart of Bordertown.

The Clayton Farm Heritage Museum, a former home of the Weiss (Wiese) family, consists of a long history of thatched buildings and shacks, the largest of which is located on the farm in the Southern Hemisphere. The historic farm house dates back to 1885, where the Weiss family lived until 1981, when family members reached an agreement with the Bordertown Agricultural Museum, which leased about 3.48 hectares of farm land. And transformed into a museum open to the public. Volunteers spent more than 20 years repairing the home and storing a large number of restored historic farm machinery and stationary engines, demonstrating the agricultural history of the southern part of South Australia.

Clayton Heritage Farm was inscribed on the South Australian Historic Heritage list on November 20, 1986.
