Lochern National Park is located in the interior of central Queensland, about 1320 kilometers from Brisbane, Queensland capital, covering an area of 239.93 square kilometers.
Lochern National Park is a remote inland, inaccessible area with numerous tributaries of the Thomson River (Thomson River) in the east of the National Park, an important habitat for many species. Several natural lagoons and ponds in the National Park provide an important habitat for birds and other wildlife, where a rare subspecies of the family (Emmott), a short-necked turtle, was found.
Located about 5 kilometres east of the park, the Brodvot Waterpool Camp (Broadwater Waterhole Camping Area) offers camping facilities (for a fee) surrounded by dense woodland and direct access by vehicles to the camp area, but the roads are dominated by unpaved dirt roads. Sometimes the ordinary two-drive is hard to get in, especially when it's muddy after the rain, so a four-drive is a better choice.
The area of Lochern National Park is known for sudden changes in the weather. No matter which time of the year, torrential rains and droughts always occur alternately, and a heavy rain can cause the roads to be covered by floods, so be prepared before you go. And pay attention to the local weather forecast in advance to avoid danger.
