Currawinya National Park

Queensland, Australia

Introduction of Currawinya National Park

Currawinya National Park is located in southwest Queensland and borders New South Wales in the south. It is about 950km by car from Queensland's capital Brisbane and covers an area of about 1513 square kilometers.

Currawinya National Park is located in a remote inland area, and in Hungford (Hungerford), south of the National Park, is the nearest town, a mini-village with a permanent population of less than 100 people. As they are located in remote areas, visitors need to be well prepared before they enter.

With the world-renowned wetlands, dusty acacia woodlands, thousands of waterbirds and migratory shorebirds, large kangaroos and reptiles, watching wildlife here is an unparalleled experience. Tourists can drive in the morning (four-wheel drive only) to the (Lake Wyara) area of Veri Salt Lake and the (Lake Numalla) area of the Numara Freshwater Lake, fishing or relaxing in the shade of a cool tree on the (Paroo River) side of the Paru River. You can also camp in the jungle on the (Ourimperee Waterhole) side of the Oreimurri water pool next to the Paru River.
