Stawell, a small town in the Wimmera region of the southwest of Victoria, is located in the northern part of Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, about 230 kilometers away from Melbourne.
Founded during the Victorian gold rush in 1853, Stawell was one of the few towns in the state to retain active gold mining.
Stawell, which plays an important role in regional tourism, is the nearest town to the famous Grand Pin National Park (Grampians National Park), about 25 kilometers by car from the gateway to the Grand Pin National Park and the main hub, Halls Gap (Halls Gap).
