Port Augusta

Introduction of Port Augusta

Port Augusta (Port Augusta) is located on the northeast corner of (Eyre Peninsula), South Australia's Al Peninsula, about 305km from Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, and has a permanent population of about 14000 people.

Located at the northern tip of (Spencer Gulf) in Spencer Bay, Port Augusta is one of the largest towns in the El Peninsula and the nearest town to Adelaide on the El Peninsula. Port Augusta is located on the east-west highway connecting the western Australian capital, Perth, and the new south Wales capital, Sydney, and the north-south highway, which connects Adelaide and Darwin, the capital of the north and south territories. It is also the rendezvous point between the east-west and central rail lines. So it's called Australia's "crossroads".

Port Augusta is a small, yet warm, well-equipped place to visit, including the Australian dryland botanical garden (Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden), which offers a unique view of the drylands.

Additional attraction points:

  • Water Tower viewing platform (Water Tower Lookout): located in the West Port Augusta (Port Augusta West), can climb the Sheung Shui Tower condescending view of Port Augusta Bay.
