Metung

Introduction of Metung

Metung, a coastal town in the East Gippsland region in southeastern Victoria, is about 310 km from Melbourne, Victoria's capital, surrounded by the larger towns of Bainesdale and Lakes Entrance.

Metung has been home to european immigrants since the mid-19th century and was officially established in 1879 and now has a resident population of around 1500.

Metung is located on a narrow peninsula, surrounded by water on three sides, which seems to be especially favored by the sky, with the sun, the sea breeze, the white house on the shore and the sailboat on the wharf, making it a popular, original Aussie resort town, where fishing, dolphin watching and sitting in wharf are the most popular activities.
