Immigration Service introduces new rules for parents, spouses and student visas

According to the SBS, immigration authorities have announced changes in the way spouses, parents, and temporary work (international relations) visas will be submitted from Nov. 18, 2017. Applicants for these three categories of visas are no longer allowed to submit paper applications in person through immigration offices across Australia.

Spouse, parent immigration visa

  • For spouse immigration visas (82080 1309100 and 300 categories) and temporary work (international relations category) visas (category 403), all applications must be submitted through the Migration Board website (https://online.immi.gov.au/lusc/login);
  • Parents immigration visas (804884864173143 and 103) must be submitted by ordinary mail (post) or express (courier). All parents immigration visa applications must be sent to Perth;
  • Normal mailing address: Parent Visa Centre,Locked Bag 7, Northbridge WA 6865;
  • Express address: Parent Visa Centre,Wellington Central,Ground Floor,836 Wellington Street,West Perth WA 6005.

Temporary visa

Since 18 November 2017, most temporary visa applicants and holders are required to comply with the following terms:

  • Section 8303: during Australia, participation in any destructive activity or any activity that poses a violent threat to Australian society or organizations is prohibited;
  • Clause 8304: applicants must use the same name in all official Australian documents. If you change your name, you should inform them as soon as possible and do your best to notify them in place.
  • Section 8564: no involvement in any criminal activity during Australia;

These provisions apply to most temporary visas, such as student visas, graduate temporary visas, temporary spouse visas, visitor visas, etc.
