Australia's goverment sees naturalization applications as the last chance for foreigners to stay, with more than 4000 migrants denied citizenship last year, some of the most common reasons recently revealed.

Although the Ministry of the Interior said this year's denial of citizenship data "cannot be made public," 4151 people were rejected in fiscal year 2016-2017, according to the SBS.

Of those who were denied citizenship, 1866 were denied citizenship because they failed to pass the naturalization exam, while the rest were denied identification, non-criminality and participation in extremist groups.

Simmons (Mitch Simmons) of Tern Lawyers, a law firm, said failing to meet character requirements and proof of identity was one of the most common grounds for rejection. If the applicant has been prosecuted, even if he or she is not convicted, it may be a ground for the Immigration Department to refuse to do so. He suggested that people in such situations should seek legal advice, otherwise they would not only be denied citizenship, but also the risk of visa revocation.

Before submitting his naturalization application, Simmons pointed out that the scope of naturalization was broader than applying for an Australian visa. Australia's goverment sees naturalization as a last chance to decide whether or not to stay in Australia. Once someone becomes an Australian citizen, it is very difficult to shut them out.

Saha (Sagar Shah), an Indian, was one of those who applied for citizenship last year. Although he met all the conditions at the time of his application for naturalization in December 2012, some of the things he had done after the application had resulted in his refusal to become naturalized. Saha travelled to India in March 2014 and returned to Australia three years later. As a result, the Immigration and Border Protection Department rejected his application for naturalization because he had no intention of staying in Australia or had no intention of maintaining a close or lasting relationship with Australia.

Simmons said that there were not many applications for naturalization as rejected as Saha. He points out that, in general, naturalization applications usually default to applicants who do not intend to live outside Australia. In some cases, however, applicants have been denied citizenship because of certain family or business reasons that have led them to stay abroad for longer periods of time.

Saha was rejected and appealed to (AAT), an administrative appeals tribunal, saying his Indian father had been paralyzed by a stroke and had to stay in India to take care of his father and head the family business. But AAT upheld the verdict.

Fijian Kumar (Ritnesh Kumar) was denied citizenship because of multiple traffic violations and his appeal was rejected last year.

The federal goverment last year announced a major overhaul of its citizenship law, including an extension of its stay in Australia from a year to four, as well as a separate English proficiency test. The bill was rejected by a coalition of Labour, Greens and neutral senators in the Senate.

Goverment hopes the revised bill will break through Congress again by July.

The three alternative answers to the questions in the Australian naturalization exam do not correspond to the information given in the English version of the test preparation, which may have an impact on some examiners.

A British woman, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the media that she had discovered the mistake when she took the naturalization exam this week, according to SBS.

She carefully prepared for the exam and read the English version of the Examiner Classic, Australian Citizenship-our Common tie. (Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond).

According to the Home Office, "everything you need for the naturalization exam is included in this book," which says Australia's population "is about 24 million people." However, when the woman encountered the question in the exam, she found that the three alternative answers were 18 million, 22 million and 30 million.

She questioned the examiner, saying the answer she had learned from the Book was 24 million, but the examiner told her the correct answer was 22 million, adding that "it is not surprising that the system is difficult to update."

According to the examiner, the woman completed 22 million and passed the exam, but she wondered how many people would fail the question.

For many people, it takes many years to get to the naturalization exam. The exam is a random selection of 20 questions from a large database of questions. The examiner must answer at least 15 correctly to pass the test.

The woman said that while it was reasonable for goverment to ask naturalists to take the exam, it was "humiliating" to make a mistake.

According to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, as of September 2017, there were 24702900 people in Australia. Australia's population exceeded 22 million in 2009, 23 million in 2013, and 24 million in early 2016.

Although the English version of the Sutra lists an Australian population of 24 million, other languages, including simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, and Indonesian, Italian, French, Arabic handbooks, are available in the English version of the Sutra, with an Australian population of 24 million, including simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, and Indonesian, Italian, French and Arabic handbooks. Australia's population is still listed as "about 22 million".

In response, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry said, "in order to preserve the fairness of the naturalization examination, all questions and answers are confidential. The Ministry of the Interior is not in a position to comment further on the contents of the naturalization examination. "

It is reported that between July 1, 2017 and April 30, 2018, the failure rate of naturalization examination was 2.9%. Of the 1597 people who failed the exam, 5.5% failed because of a poor score.
