By the end of 2018, Australia had increased 404000 people a year to 25.18 million, with an annual population growth rate of 1.6 percent. Victoria has nearly 140000 new residents a year, and the population growth rate is still the highest in Australia.

According to the Herald Sun and Macro economic, Australia`s Bureau of Statistics (ABS) `s latest Australian demographics (Australian Demographic Statistics) report for the fourth quarter of 2081 shows that net overseas immigrants have contributed to Australia`s sustained rapid population growth, with 1.6 percent annual growth well above the average for the past 35 years. Australia had 248500 net immigrants abroad last year, down from 315700 at its peak in 2008, but also above the average for the past 35 years. The average number of net overseas immigrants over the past 35 years has been 141766.

There were 314900 newborns in Australia last year, the largest number of births in history, breaking the 2012 record of 312200 births. Among them, 161900 men baby and 153000 women baby. On the other hand, Australia`s death population fell last year from the previous year, from 160100 in 2017 to 158500, with the result that the population grew naturally to 156300 last year, up from 144100 in 2017.

Of Australia`s population growth last year, natural growth accounted for 38.6 percent, while net overseas immigration increased by 61.4 percent.

By 2018, there were 17.65 million Australian-born residents, 991530 British-born residents, 650700 Chinese-born residents in third place and 592310 Australians born in India. In addition, 568290 Australians were born in New Zealand, 277510 in the Philippines and 256310 from Vietnam.

Italy was Australia`s main source of immigration after World War II, but the number of Italian-born Australians has fallen by 14030 a year to only 186640. Similarly, Greek-born immigrants have fallen by 11010 a year to 108830.

The number of British residents fell by 6080 in 2017 / 18, the number of Chinese immigrants increased by 44, 390, and the number of new Indian immigrants to Australia was as large as 54240.

Victoria`s population grew by 2.2% last year, surpassing 1.8% in Kunzhou and 1.6% in the new state. Tazhou`s population grew 1.2 percent a year, South Australia and Western Australia were relatively weak, rising 0.8 percent and 0.9 percent respectively over the same period, while the Northern Territory experienced negative population growth of-0.4 percent.

Victoria has a population of 6.52 million, and the state`s new residents are mainly settled in Melbourne. According to ABS estimates, Melbourne`s population is expected to increase by about 5 million by 2046, breaking through the 9 million mark, given immigration and rising fertility, and the city`s population will reach as much as 10.5 million in 2056.

Virginia`s population growth was driven by 86000 net immigrants and 13200 Australians moved to the state.

However, the new state is still the most populous state in Australia, with a population of 8.04 million. (Enyo)
